Morell Regional High School Cenotaph Project
March 29, 2009
Welcome to the MRHS Cenotaph Project. The brainchild of an Ontario teacher, Blake Seward, the World War One Cenotaph Project aims to have students research the lives of soldiers of the Great War in order to fill in the blanks about their lives overseas. The full project can be located at Library and Archives Canada. I had the opportunity to travel with Mr Seward during a Canadian battlefield tour in 2005 and his knowledge of (and passion for) the Canadian experience in Europe is both inspiring and contagious. Thanks to him, this project is being conducted – in several variations – across Canada. The aim of the MRHS Cenotaph Project is to have Morell students research war records and diaries of men from our five communities and develop a plausible historical record for each man. At the conclusion of the project, we shall present our findings to each soldier’s nearest relation.
Please refer to the links on the right in order to weave your way through. Several sections will have been obtained in the Library and Archives Canada Lest We Forget Project site. To make it easier for MRHS students, we have tailored the project to suit our needs. Good luck.
